Writing Workshop for Middle School
Taught by Middle School Writing Specialist Ms. Kathie— your middle school child will discover the magic of writing in all different genres, using a variety of techniques and strategies.
Each week I teach a different skill, using an engaging prompt. Your child can join in any week and still feel like they are learning and growing as a writer. This LIVE class is held 2x per week.
$96/month ($12/lesson for 8 lessons)
45 minutes per lesson

What Your Child Will Learn and Do:

ON MONDAYS:
Introduction/Ice Breaker:
To help your child feel welcome and seen
Mini-lesson:
I will demonstrate the writer’s trick or “strategy” for getting ideas down.
Time for Student to Practice the Strategy:
Your child will have time to try out the strategy with guidance from me
Writing Time:
Quiet writing time allows your child to put their thoughts into sentences.
Sharing Time:
If your child chooses to share with others in class
ON WEDNESDAYS (of the same week):
Check in:
To share information and fun things we are doing for the week to build friendships and trust amongst students
Mini-lesson:
I will demonstrate a revision and/or editing technique(s).
Time for Student to Practice the Technique:
Your child will have time to try out the technique(s) with guidance from me
Writing Time:
Quiet writing time allows your child to put their thoughts into sentences.
Sharing Time:
If your child chooses to share with others in class

- A form will appear where you will register your child and your account in TutorBird, (my customer management system).
- Payments are securely accepted through Stripe or PayPal.

About the Teacher
My goal is to help every student find their unique voice and gain confidence as a writer.
As a published author, I love showing kids practical strategies that make writing feel easier and more enjoyable.
With 29 years of experience teaching writing to middle and high school students, I’ve learned a few writer’s tricks. These are strategies that my students have used successfully again and again.
